as the great james brown would say..........hah!  ah gotcha!!

as much as i love taking pictures, it can be very annoying to have a person floating around with a camera.  however, i have found that the majority of  annoying camera people tend to be the flash happy papparazzi style folks.

but if you have a steady enough hand, a camera with a few sweet options that allow you to take relatively decent low light shots without blinding people, you can start capturing.

as most of you know.... this is my younger brother jeff.  this was taken while at the marriott pinnacle in vancouver, just hanging out in the room drinking beer. we thought we were killing time before our friends wedding.  when really.... our invitation was wrong, and we were sitting in the hotel room drinking beer WHILE our friend was getting married.

we made it for the reception..... and the open bar.

the right stuff

i considered going... i really did.  but fortunately i had much better things to do that night.

now i can't say really where i got these tickets.  let's just say they were given to me by some people who worked for the band.  if they can truly be called that.  actually.... let's go with "group".  so yes, someone who worked for the group gave me these.

i gotta say though.... fame sure is a weird thing.  i met these dudes as they got off the bus (can't say where!) but i'm sure my readers have an idea =)  they're nice enough guys, but that's it.  they're just people.  now granted, i say that.... but i also don't give a shit about this group.

if it was someone who i admired a great deal... it could be a bit different.  but i think admiration and fanatacism are two completely different things.  some of the 30-something women who were dying to just see these dudes were pretty aggressive.  it was a little freaky to be honest.  people ditching work, cutting out on class, avoiding things they needed to do... just for a whiff of their cheesy cologne and a glimpse of their slightly torn designer jeans.

some perspective

i haven't been on here in forever it seems. 
crezzy.

tomorrow is the last day of my 3 day "intro to massage" course and it's been great.  i'm really enjoying it and i will for sure be going into it in the fall.  i'll flip my life upside down for 10 months and dive into some school.  sweet.  it'll be crazy but i've already met some great people in 2 days.  never mind a year of it.

i haven't been out to shoot in ages.  so i figured why not just put up another one from my shoot with Julian and Janelle.  i've been meaning to get out and try and capture some of the cherry blossoms as there are a few streets here in james bay that are loaded with them.  i'm afraid at this point though they are past their prime.  i'll see what i can come up with.... but i may be too late.  again.  every year i say i'm gonna capture them, and i never get around to it. 

Athabasca Thrift enjoyed their first live appearance together the other night.  man... it felt great to get back up there.  i forget... that no matter how much i plan out what i'm going to say during the show, it all goes out the window and i just riff on whatever comes to mind.  and so far, i've yet to make a major fool out of myself.

.... now i must sleeps.  for doing massage, and getting massage all day, makes for a tired guy.

As much as I'd love to be able to produce stuff as often as the Judge, it just doesn't happen like that for me.  But when we do crank out soemthing.... man is it ever worth the time and effort.

Portrait Shoot

Quite pleased with the results from my shoot with Julian and Janelle (pictured above) I'm looking forward to my next opportunity to do portraits.

These two were great to work with.  Super laid back and full of love.   Doing a "couples" shoot was alot of fun, because they create their own energy and emotion, which gives me an abundance to capture.

For so long I've been really into landscapes, macro and inanimate photography.  I mean, I still am, don't get me wrong.  But I have to say, I really enjoy the physical aspect of portraiture.  For this shoot, I was climbing things, laying down in the dirt, running ahead of them, hiding behind things... anything I could do or think of to capture something magic.

it's been ages since i posted without a picture.  this is mainly because i'm heading out to the studio in a few minutes, and i don't have much time.  this is also because i don't have or want a picture for:

sneezing in a full faced helmet.
with the mask down no less.
